It’s Personal

It’s Personal

There is a precious reminder of how personal the Lord’s love is for us in Luke 19. Yes, Jesus died for the sins of the world, but He sees each of us as individuals—His own creation—in need. It is personal.

Jesus was passing through Jericho, mobbed by a crowd. One stout little man wanted to see who Jesus was so he climbed a tree to take a look. Jesus stopped at his tree. Jesus called him by name. Jesus invited him to respond to His request; and Zaccheus did respond. He came down and declared his faith through his changed heart.

Some people grumbled at Jesus’ pursuit of this sinful man. These people did not understand God’s immense love for each individual – sinful and lost. Jesus underscored this personal love as it is recorded at the end of this story: “For the Son of Man has come to seek and to save that which was lost.”

This seeking is personal. He knows YOUR name. Even after you are born into God’s family through faith in Jesus Christ, He seeks you, personally, and invites you to a close relationship with Him. He longs for a relationship with you—and it is personal.
